Healthy habits can sound annoying to me from the get-go because there are many things I do that I would like to turn into consistent habits but so often I fail to follow through with my plan.
Does that happen to you?
I’m interested in exploring what happens if for the moment we set aside habits that we normally think of when we talk about health, like exercise and diet, and talk about habits that give us peace and happiness? Our mentality needs to be healthy too.
1. Be content with what you can accomplish every day. If you’re like me, you wake up in the morning with intentions of knocking out a good portion of your to-do list. Somehow, throughout your day, unexpected things hit you, and you stop everything to deal with them. The to-do list is left unfinished.
Healthy Habit: Embrace the times that pull you away from your to-do list. They could be something that changes everything in your life!
2. Don’t assume someone’s comment was a criticism of you. Maybe it was? Take it as a chance to grow or change for the better. Maybe it wasn’t? Do we know for sure what people are thinking?
Healthy Habit: Assume the best in what people say, even when they say things that you think are hurtful.
3. Learn how to live with less. I remember early in my marriage I was told that a woman’s home is a reflection of her. I didn’t perceive that as a humble home meaning I was a humble person. I perceived it as a beautiful home means a beautiful person. Others may see what you have as important, but it is not. Things complicate your life unless you can afford help to take care of everything, you may forget the things that bring you true joy.
Healthy Habit: Your life enjoyment starts within you and reflects in your treatment of others and yourself in caring and love. Material things can hold you in chains, and take you as a prisoner.
4. Make time for fun, friends, and interests. I remember a time when I was burned out and depressed and sitting in front of the doctor when she said, “what do you like to do”? I honestly could not think of anything! I had put everything I loved on the back burner for so long that I couldn’t remember. If that is how you feel, you may have to look back at the things you did before your life demanded so much from you. You can start trying anything that comes to mind, and soon you will remember and be living fully again.
Healthy Habit: Regularly challenge yourself to grow and learn about doing the things you love.
5. Be Worry free. We can’t bring back any time that we spend worrying. We can’t change anything with worry. There is a difference between worry and thinking ahead. I struggle with the difference between worry and thinking ahead to prevent havoc in my life. Any new idea immediately causes the “what if” reaction my mind.
I think we should think through big changes in our life and the possible outcomes, positive and negative before we make them. But we can’t spend our lives analyzing every action after we make the choice to do it. I’ve learned to catch myself in a worrying frame of mind and change it to a positive thought and move on with my day. But the thinking ahead when making a decision can still be a little overwhelming.
I would love to hear from you! How do you deal with the difference of planning and preparing for new changes in your life and thinking through all the possibilities of things that could go wrong? Once you make those changes how do you not worry about it?
Please comment below. I’d love to hear how you deal with this situation!

Good compilation. Personally I deal with many of them, but then over the years I have learned to lean on to God.
Thank you! I’m glad you are working things out. I believe that relying on God as you understand him is a big help too.
