The cold weather is here and the thought of the lush greens of summer and the bright colors of fall disappearing for four to six months doesn’t have to be a bad thing! There are plenty of little touches of the outdoors that you can display in your home to make you still feel the connection with the outdoors.
To preserve the green colors of summer add the moss that you buy in the bag so it stays green. Creamy white pumpkins, hydrangeas, and antlers all go well together and grab the interest of male and female guests. With winter months ahead you will need something that says comfort, and to me, that means warmth with fur throws, pillows, and faux fur rugs. Soft lighting and maybe a fire in the woodstove complete the ambiance to allow people to settle in and feel the warmth of your home.
Yes, maybe faux fur seems more appropriate to some, but like my granddaughter said as she petted and touched different parts of the bear’s face, “I like him!”
Let your imagination carry you to the places this bear walked and foraged for food, even the den he slept in. It’s a big world out there.
The room above is where I want to spend my next vacation. You will find sitting on the sofa above binge watching Kodi TV Box, reading, napping, or heading out that door for an exciting hike. No bears, please!
The combination of rustic, industrial, and modern is a perfect balance in this apartment size living room. If you don’t have a fireplace in your home, why not fake it like the one above? It’s a perfect focal point and having a mantle to decorate is an extra plus!
If you would be snowed in at this place you might even be thrilled about it.
All the comforts of home and the natural stone and furs bring the outdoors in for you.
This chandelier is a small part of a massive chandelier John removed from a retirement home he was remodeling. I would love to put the whole chandelier in our small house, but it is literally from the floor to ceiling in size. I couldn’t think of a way to make it work, unsurprisingly, so I grabbed the top and gave it a quick spray of white paint. Keep going so you can see the classiest shop around to combine your rustic yet elegant decor with a bit of warmth and comfort.
I love the character of old and new, fresh and preserved. Who knew antlers would be on our walls again! Grab a tree branch and add a light coat of spray paint. Place in front of something dark, and it creates interest and lots of areas for the sun to bounce off of. Check out more natural rustic decor here.
